Top 10 favorite things about the HOLLY-dayz! Just a fun way to say it… I mean, everyone is mixing up Merry Christmas, so there’s another one.
1. Matching outfits
I love matching my girls. We love to coordinate whenever I can persuade them to wear what I’d like, which doesn’t happen all that often. For some reason, around the holly-dayz, my girls love to match! So fun.
Off to the nutcracker…

2. Obligatory visit with Santa and caroling
This is just one of those things that you have to do. I mean, even if your kid is crying and scared to death, you just HAVE to hand them over to a complete stranger with a beard. Right? haha.. Going to be a great one to look back on.
Then caroling. We went to a retirement community, and also around the neighborhood. Always good for the soul, but it always takes so much longer than you think. haha.
3. Spending time with Christina!
She came in town for practically the whole month of December while her husband was taking finals. She brought her cute little baby, and we let the kids play almost every day! I loved chatting and relaxing and just catching up!
She even got bangs!! Love it. She was happy when Dustin came in town, and they threw their daughter a 1st birthday party!
4. Spending time with these love birds
So, the baby of the family is getting married in a few months! Benjamin talked Kaly into coming to Texas for Christmas and we LOVED having them here!!
They are perfect together!
And… we got some wax treatments from Kaly!
She also gave the little girls a special “spa day” as a gift for Christmas. Talk about winning every single one of these girls over…wow! There in heaven. Nails, facials, and hair!
5. Good food!!
What are the holidays without some good food?
Donny made a towering bacon breakfast… it didn’t disappoint!
For Christmas Eve, we had a special breakfast with just our little family. Michael made snowman pancakes, and I want to make it a tradition!
Then on Christmas day, we went to have the Norwegian dinner with the whole Taylor crew. It is talked about for months, and just the smell of the ribs cooking gets everyone excited!
I also got to celebrate a good friend’s baby at a new restaurant. Yummy food…
Beautiful ladies… The perfect “girls lunch” out!
Santa brought us a waffle maker. Michael wants to make waffles every weekend for the girls. Can’t believe we survived this long without one!
6. Cousin time!
I hope my kids realize how lucky they are to have COUSINS!! These kiddos are adorable, play so well together, and are just too cute.
Uncle Donny helped the kids track Santa Claus…he was refreshing the app every minute or so, and the kids couldn’t get enough!
7. Great weather!
Seriously, so nice. We went to the park, rode bikes, it was great to get outside!
8. Dance parties!
New Year’s included minute-to-win-it games, photo booth, dance parties, pizza, and tons of laughs! It was the perfect night to bring the kids and the adults together for such a fun time. I love how everyone could get into it!!
9. Thinking of Creative Gifts
This year, I decided to put a personal touch on Michael’s gift and make him a corn hole set! I painted the boards, and added the decal. he LOVED them!
They provided hours of entertainment over the holly-dayz. Notice how Michael is in shorts… crazy Texas weather!
New outfit, too… of course.
I always try to help my girls earn money to teach them about hard work and the value of a dollar. They do a few jobs, get some money, and then they have to go to the store to shop for their siblings. I think it helps them get in the “giving spirit” and they wrap them and put them under the tree. I love it!
Carmen wanted a REAL dog, and she told Santa time and time again.
This year, Santa brought her a remote control dog…and she walks it every day. It’s name is Rosie, and it has a rose on it’s collar. I accidentally snapped the cord when I was cutting it open. Thanks to some rewiring, Christmas was saved!
Santa dumped his sleigh!
Nora’s request was a sled…in Texas… I guess miracles happen, because Santa brought her a sled… to ride in her room. Praying the first snow comes soon, so the excitement doesn’t totally die.
Meanwhile, she can use the umbrella for the rain!
Fun gifts to focus on Christ!
Afton was so fun… she is full of energy and life. My heart died when she opened this doll and gave it the biggest hug!
The best gift of all of Christmas was from Donny. He hand carved, crafted, branded, sewed, and made these 5 knives!!! It was so personal, and kind, and rewarding to hear him talk about it and share everything he learned!
10. Family Time
The ultimate best part about the holly-dayz is spending time together as a family. One little moment my heart took a picture was when I took the girls to Michael’s alumni game. He got to wear his same jersey, and he was the second highest scorer, and second oldest player! Wahoo! He’s still got it.
We had a special visit from Mama Taylor from Dallas. This woman raised 11 kids and is the best of the best. I love her!!
I also loved to see my girls in their jammies, all snuggly on Christmas Eve!
Christmas eve nativity with the family. No better tradition!!
